Qingdao International Sailing Week · Qingdao International Ocean Festival and the 2nd China (Qingdao) International Marine Sports Conference to Kick Off on September 12
On September 4, the Municipal Government Information Office held a press conference to introduce the details of the 2025 17th Qingdao International Sailing Week · Qingdao International Ocean Festival and the 2nd China (Qingdao) International Marine Sports Conference. Attendees included Cai Quanji, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Director of the Municipal Sports Bureau; Ren Xianhui, Deputy General Manager of Qingdao Tourism Group Co., Ltd.; and Zhang Min, Director of the Municipal Sports Development Center, who answered questions from reporters.
To thoroughly implement the national strategy of"Building a Leading Sports Nation," further meet the people's aspirations for a better life, showcase Qingdao's unique charm as a marine city, highlight its marine sports vitality and development achievements, and promote international exchanges and cooperation in sports, the 2025 17th Qingdao International Sailing Week · Qingdao International Ocean Festival and the 2nd China (Qingdao) International Marine Sports Conference will be held from September 12 to 21. The event is jointly hosted by the Water Sports Management Center of the General Administration of Sport of China, the Beijing Olympic City Development Association, the Chinese Yachting Association, the Shandong Provincial Sports Bureau, and the Qingdao Municipal People's Government.
This year's Sailing Week · Ocean Festival and Marine Sports Conference will focus on building a high-quality outdoor sports destination, utilizing platform thinking to expand marine sports events, enrich public sports and cultural life, boost sports tourism, and stimulate related consumption, thereby continuously enhancing the international influence of Qingdao as the"Sailing Capital." Under the theme"Legacy of the Olympics, Sailing in Qingdao; Sailing Capital, Sports City," the festival will feature seven sections with"16 competitions and 1 camp" (16 events and 1 International Optimist Dinghy Camp) and 34 cultural, sports, and business exchange activities, igniting Qingdao's passion with fashionable and dynamic sports. During the event, it is expected to attract 2,000 athletes from 30 countries and regions, making it an unprecedented sports extravaganza.
Compared to previous editions, this year's Sailing Week · Ocean Festival and Marine Sports Conference will achieve advancements and improvements in three aspects:
1.Event Setup: The maritime racecourses will be further expanded. With new organizations joining, new events being introduced, and new competitions being established, the number of events will increase, their scale will be larger, and the events will be more diverse.
2.Event Content: The"Sports+" concept will be more deeply integrated. Focusing on sports serving the public and empowering urban development, the comprehensive advantages of the marine sports event will be more pronounced.
3.Internationalization: Qingdao's reputation as the"Sailing Capital" will continue to be enhanced. Increased participation from international organizations and athletes will help consolidate and elevate Qingdao's status on the international marine sports stage.
